Day 8: A Lot of Parentheses

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” — Proverbs 31:25-26

Women’s Group aka that time every Thursday night where my heart pops out of my chest and wants to hug the world (there’s an image for ya — a heart that hugs? That’s scary). There’s something a lot more freeing about being in the presence of just women when you let yourself fall open to the love and understanding that’s so naturally born in us all. Sometimes the initial building of that bond is hard and takes a while, but when it’s there and you find a place you’re comfortable, there really is something unique there. So much like Tuesday, I sat still, listening to these beautiful retreat sharings and noticed how much more free everybody in the room felt in the presence of likeminded women. (And this is not to put down men at all! Like bro. We need you. But there are some things you just can’t understand, and that’s what makes it so cool and important to have what we have here. (Okay that last sentence went in a direction that could’ve been outside of the parentheses to build upon the main point of this post, but it just flowed, you know? (And now there’s this whole side conversation I’m having with myself in the parentheses within the parentheses within the parentheses. (I’ve lost it… I’ve really lost it… (Party in the parentheses!)))))

WHERE AM I RIGHT NOW?!

Anyway. We’ve got a really cool thing here.

I really do feel a lot lighter, more free, and wholly respected. The world needs love like this because it was with this love that Jesus, that God, was able to be born on our super cool and wonderful (and also kind of messed up) turf.

We’re a hot mess, but we’re beeauuutiiful daughters.

Much love, ladies and gents.
